Evolution: Descent with Modification
The theory of evolution attracted considerable criticism (from both scientists and non-scientists) when it was first proposed. The growing body of evidence and broad explanatory power of the theory slowly changed the minds of skeptical scientists, especially following the "modern synthesis" period of the 1930s and 1940s. This section discusses the "descent with modification" that evolutionary theory explains.
